The unit is being set up on area of five acres at an investment of Rs 50 crore.
"In the first phase, we are investing Rs 25-30 crore on the facility. Megitt is the technology partner for the project'', said Ravi Agarwal, president & chief executive officer, Sure Safery Solutions Pvt Ltd.
The project will begin with an assembly line for aerial target followed with servicing Meggitt's more than $50 million order procured from the Ministry of Defence for aerial targets.
Arun Misra, vice president, Tata Steel's Gopalpur project and managing director, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (SEZ) said, "This is a bright beginning for us and we look forward to many more such investments and opportunities in this industrial park in coming days. We are in discussions with investors in China and other South-East Asian countries too who have shown interest to partner with us in this growth. We are committed to establish this region as the next industrial hot spot of the state of Odisha and this occasion marks the first step in this regard".
The ground breaking ceremony for the unit was performed today in the presence of industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra and higher education minister cum local MLA Pradeep Panigrahi.
