Animation company DQ Entertainment (International) reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 13 crore in the three months to June 30, 2011, compared to a loss of Rs 11 crore in the comparable period last year.
During the period, its net income rose 17% y-o-y to Rs 28 crore from Rs 24 crore. A 26% increase in employees cost to Rs 24 crore was the major item in the company's total expenditure of Rs 40 crore (Rs 36 crore).
In the quarter, the company received 94% of the revenue from the animation segment, while the rest was contributed by distribution and gaming segments. While the animation segment added to Rs 7 crore to the bottomline, distribution and unallocated expenses made for a loss of Rs 18 crore.
On BSE, the company scrip is trading at Rs 38.45, down 3.75% from its previous close of Rs 39.95.
