Germany's Nord Drivesystems plans India expansion
Company invests Rs 55 cr for expansion of its existing facility in Pune

Germany based Nord Drivesystems, developing and manufacturing drive technology company has invested Rs 55 crore for the expansion of its existing facility at Hinjawadi near Pune. It is opening two more assembly plants in the country.
The company's product portfolio includes a range of gear boxes, gear motors, electronic drives and electric motors with a power range of 0.12 kW to 1,000 kW per unit. About 80 per cent of the components are imported from Germany and assembled in Pune. Commenting on this, P L Muthusekkar, managing director, Nord Drivesystems India said, We have been experiencing robust growth for our products in the Indian market and SAARC countries and in order to be close to our clients, we are setting up two more assembly plants in India. The second new facility in the south would be up and ready to go on stream by the end of next year. The third new facility would be set up either in central India or north India within two years, where the demand for our products has been on the rise for some time."
With the new investment, the Hinjewadi facility is adding 2,000 units more to its production capacity of 24,000 units per year.
He added, "We are insulated from the present economic slowdown as our products are used by a range of industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, chemical, beverages, material handling, cement, sugar, steel, construction, harbour facilities, retractable roofs stadiums, baggage conveyor belts in airports, ski lifts and any packaging."
