Gujarat Ambuja Q4 net up 50% to Rs 117 cr

Gujarat Ambuja Cement has posted a 49.5 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 117.20 crore for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared with a net profit of Rs 78.37 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net sales rose 26.46 per cent to Rs 595.14 crore (Rs 470.58 crore).
 
Interest costs were down 13.9 per cent at Rs 17.87 crore (Rs 20.77 crore), while depreciation increased 12.65 per cent at Rs 46.02 crore (Rs 40.85 crore).
 
The company's net profit for the financial year ended June 30, 2004, has risen 51.6 per cent at Rs 336.79 crore compared with a net profit of Rs 222.09 crore registered during the year ended June 30, 2003. Net sales climbed up by 12.96 per cent to Rs 1,968.11 crore (Rs 1,742.25 crore).
 
Interest payments declined 10.81 per cent at Rs 78.43 crore (Rs 87.94 crore), while depreciation costs were down 1.5 per cent at Rs 168.61 crore (Rs 171.34 crore).
