Idea Cellular profit soars to Rs 132 crore

Aditya Birla group company Idea Cellular has posted 133.23 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 132.01 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007, compared with Rs 56.60 crore recorded during the same period of the previous financial year.
 
The company's total revenues rose to Rs 855.54 crore during the reporting quarter from Rs 584.86 crore recorded during the same period a year ago.
 
On a consolidated basis, the company posted a net profit of Rs 193.42 crore, compared with Rs 116.80 crore recorded during the same period a year ago.
 
The company's total revenues rose to Rs 1,341.06 crore during the quarter under review, up from Rs 865.87 crore recorded during the comparable quarter of the previous financial year.
 
The company's figures for the quarter were audited, Idea informed the stock exchanges today.
 
On an unaudited basis, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 193.42 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 2007, compared with Rs 116.80 crore recorded during the same period a year ago.
 
The cellular major's total revenue increased to Rs 1341.06 crore during the quarter from Rs 865.87 crore recorded during the comparable period a year ago.
 
The company's subscriber base for the year stood at 14.01 million, augmented by 90.2 per cent increase over the previous year. This reflects an improvement in the national market share from 7.65 per cent to 8.63 per cent.
 
The company has launched services in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh during the third quarter. Idea Cellular has licences to operate in 13 telecom circles in India.
