KTR Coupling sets up unit in Pune

KTR Couplings India Pvt Ltd, manufacturers of hydraulic components and power transmission equipment have set up a manufacturing plant in Pune. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany based KTR Kupplungstechnik GmbH.
The plant will manufacture various types and sizes of power transmission equipment and will undertake marketing of parent company’s hydraulic components in India.
Speaking about the Indian market and expansion plan, Dr Josef Gerstner, CEO, KTR Couplings said, " There are good opportunities in India for the coupling industry and after the recession period, we are expanding our operations over here. The 80 per cent units will be manufactured in Pune plant for the local customers. The company is importing steel, casting components from India. We are also looking for sub-suppliers in India. Localisation of products creates an positive impact on the process."
KTR has invested Rs 10.6 crore in Pune plant which has a capacity of manufacturing five lakh couplings per year. According to Dr Gerstner, KTR is gearing up to expand its geographical presence in India and is planning to increase its dealership network to 100 dealers in next five years. It is focusing on the sectors like power and wind energy.
KTR’s products are used by construction equipment, pumps, machine tools and general engineering companies.
