Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra's farm equipment sector (FES) today reported 54.44 per cent growth in tractor sales in March at 16,164 units compared to the same month last year.
While the company sold 10,466 units last year, domestic sales grew 47.20 per cent to 15,039 units in March this year compared to 10,217 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
Exports during the month surged over four-fold to 1,125 units from 249 units in the year-ago period, it added. During the entire 2009-10 fiscal, the company reported 45.88 per cent growth in cumulative sales at 1,74,634 units compared to 1,19,708 units during the same period last fiscal.
The cumulative domestic sales of tractors was 1,65,633 units, an 46.97 per cent increase over the same period last fiscal.
The company said the comparative cumulative sales between April to July 2008 does not include the 11,643 units of the merged entity because of its merger with Punjab Tractors in August 2008.
