Magna to sell 100 German products

BS Reporter Kolkata
Magna Industries & Exports Ltd, along with its joint venture partner K-Lab, plans to distribute about 100 products of a German producer called Humana in India in the next six to seven months.

It is also planning to open about 10 retail stores for child and women care under the banner of Humana in the metro cities of the country in the next seven-eight months.

Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, Satish Bhangar, managing director, Magma, said, the day care centres-cum-stores would be equipped with pediatricians and have day care rooms for working mothers, along with a wide range of Humana products.

Though the stores would be run on a franchisee model, investment in each of the stores would be between Rs 50 lakh-1 crore, he said. This apart, Magna is also negotiating with the Humana for manufacturing its products at Magna's Indian facility at Uttarakhand.

Initially, Magna plans to market effervescent tablets and mint tablets of Humana. In future, it plans to distribute Humana's baby food items like "baby tea".

However, Magna is yet to receive certificates from different state government health departments, except Tamil Nadu, for marketing Humana products under the banner of "dietary supplement".

"As of now, Chennai will act as our distribution point, but we are trying to convince other states government for classifying our products as dietary supplements," he said.
