New board for AP Paper

US-based International Paper has constituted a new board of directors for Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills Limited under the leadership of Paul Brown, president of International Paper India and chairman and acting chief executive of AP Paper Mills.

It has also appointed Rampraveen Swaminathan as managing director and chief executive of AP Paper, effective March 2 when Brown would become executive chairman of the board, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.

The new board members include Adhiraj Sarin, managing director, Bunge; Brett Mosley, director (global technology), International Paper; MK Sharma, former vice chairman, Hindustan Unilever; MS Ramachandran, former chairman, Indian Oil; Milind Sarwate, group CFO, Marico; PK Suri, director (operations), AP Paper; Praveen Kadle, managing director and chief executive of Tata Capital; Ranjana Kumar, former vigilance commissioner and former chairperson of Indian Bank; Shreeyash Bangur, former director (corporate), AP Paper; Tom Kadien, senior vice president (consumer packaging), IP Asia and IP India; Brown and Swaminathan.

 

Brown, with extensive experience in the paper and packaging industry, will oversee International Paper’s business in India, including setting strategic direction for the company in the region.

Since 1984, he has held various leadership roles with International Paper in US, Europe, West Asia, Africa, China, Southeast Asia and in India, according to the release.

As new managing director and chief executive, Swaminathan would lead company's business and growth in India. He will join AP Paper from Cummins.

AP Paper became a part of the $25-billion global paper major International Paper following the acquisition of majority interest through a buyout of stake from core promoters and later through an open offer. It produces writing and printing and copier papers at its two manufacturing units in AP, with a total production capacity of 250,000 tonne per year.
