Now, a professional networking site for HR professionals
Site allows educational institutes to have a direct access to these professionals online to promote employment prospects of their students

Professional networking sites for individuals may have become popular among Indian companies. However, niche networking sites catering to the various categories of professionals have also slowly cropped up. One such portal for human resource professionals is thehrconnect.com.
Gagan Randhwa, co-founder of the portal said that the idea behind the portal was to have a dedicated platform for HR professionals to interact.
Further, it has also enabled educational institutes to have a direct access to these professionals online, so that they promote the college brand for future employment prospects of their students.
"Segment sites are the flavour of the market. We have tied up with a global company for online software-based technology for seamless online interaction between institutes and HR heads," said Randhwa.
The portal, however, does not allow all students of the institute to interact with HR heads. Randhwa explained that it has been kept closed to all students, as otherwise, the site would be flooded with resumes of students.

About 40 colleges have been connected through to the portal to prospective employers. Colleges can log-in, create their dedicated pages and brochures to appeal to the companies. The portal has undertaken a pilot project in Amravati, Maharashtra in two institutes where technology has been provided to connect the institute officials with the recruitment heads of corporates.
Revenue is generated by giving advertising space on the website. Also, institutes are charged a premium for created dedicated pages.
Chat groups and walls are integral features of the website. The portal not only allows networking, but also allows students to ask queries to HR experts on issues related to their resume and job prospects.
Randhwa added that they aimed to expand the portal by adding in new features like video chat.
"It would be beneficial for institutes to build their brand using our technology, rather than spending money on hiring consultants for placements," he said.
