Piramal to strengthen diagnostic services

Pharma giant Piramal Healthcare Limited plans to strengthen its diagnostic services. It will network its diagnostic centres to provide customers the flexibility of visiting any of these centres for getting the tests done. Piramal currently operates about 100 diagnostic centres, which would be increased shortly, according to Swati Piramal, director of Piramal Healthcare.

The company’s board has recently approved its proposal to raise Rs 1,000 crore through various channels for acquisitions and other expansion plans, she said.

The company will also ramp up the capacity of its anaesthetics and active pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturing plant at Zaheerabad near Hyderabad. It will also recruit personnel for its operations, she said, without quantifying the headcount and the investments that will go into the Hyderabad plant expansion.

 

Speaking on the sidelines of Indo-Gulf Business Forum here on Wednesday, she said for Piramal Group, the priority would be on moving to Tier-II cities and rural areas.
