Rajasthan Mills & Sun Pharma Q1 results

Rajasthan Mills net up 51%
 
Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills announced net profit of Rs 5.38 crore the first quarter ended June 2006. This is an increase of 51 per cent from Rs 3.56 crore recorded in the corresponding period last year.
 
Income from sales increased by 20.37 per cent to Rs 239.34 crore in the quarter from Rs 198.83 crore in the corresponding period last year. Basic earnings per share stood at Rs 2.32 for the period.
 
Sun Pharma net up 20%
 
Sun Pharmaceuticals, one of the fast growing pharma specialty companies, posted 19.84 per cent rise in net profit at 148.02 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006, compared with Rs 123.51 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005.
 
The company's total income increased from Rs 446.18 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 to Rs 565.96 crore for the first quarter in the financial year 2006-07. This means growth of 26.84 per cent.
 
The group's total income increased from Rs 418.54 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 to Rs 539.03 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006, registering growth of 28.78 per cent.
 
Early this year, the company had announced the demerger of its innovative research and development and new drug delivery systems (NDDS) to a new company under its fold.
