Samsung agency Cheil goes for a rejig

Beefs up staff, sets up new office in Delhi

Viveat Susan Pinto Mumbai

Cheil Worldwide, which manages the advertising business of consumer electronics giant Samsung and is partly owned by the latter, has initiated a few changes in India.

The agency, which uptil now was located a floor below the Samsung headquarters in Gurgaon, has set up an independent office in Delhi.

It has also appointed a new client servicing head in Saurabh Mathur, who will be designated as senior vice-president.

Mathur will lead client servicing operations in India and will work closely with John Koo, president and head of regional headquarters, Cheil Worldwide South West Asia.

The search, however, for an India head continues following the exit of COO Alok Agrawal a few months ago. Agrawal had moved to Zee News as its CEO.

Mathur, who has 20 years experience in advertising, was until recently with Dentsu, where he led the agency’s efforts on all key businesses including Aircel’s Wifi and 3G campaigns. The fast growing Panasonic business, including the launch of a new sub category in cube-split air conditioners, as well as the launch of the Ingersoll Rand group in India was implemented during his tenure at Dentsu.

Cheil is expected to beef up its team further and is also likely to set up offices in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
