Seshasayee new exec VC of Ashok Leyland

Ashok Leyland has announced the appointment of managing director R Seshasayee as new executive vice chairman of the company with effect from April 1, 2011. He will be replaced by Vinod K Dasari, chief operating officer and whole-time director.

Seshasayee has been the managing director of the company since 1998 and his current term was due to expire on March 31, 2011. He is also executive vice chairman of holding company Hinduja Automotive Ltd, according to a company release.

Dasari will be new managing director (designate) of Ashok Leyland with immediate effect and will assume responsibility as managing director from April 1, 2011.

 

Seshasayee will now focus on strategic initiatives towards globalisation of the company’s operations as well as leadership development, said Dheeraj G Hinduja, chairman, Ashok Leyland

“This is a planned transition,” he said, adding, “Vinod was being groomed for this move over the last few years and he was progressively being entrusted with the responsibilities relating to marketing, manufacturing, strategic sourcing and product development.
