Tyco launches new business unit in India

| Tyco Electronics, a global electronic components manufacturer, on Monday announced the launch of its new business unit, Elo TouchSystems, in India. |
| Elo TouchSystems is a global brand in touch technology which develops, manufactures, and markets a complete line of touchscreen and touchmonitor products. |
| "With industrial development and new mall culture spreading rapidly in the country, the need for touchscreens and touchmonitors is increasingly being felt," said Vijay Wadhawan, sales manager, India, Elo TouchSystems. |
| "The touch market is unstructured in India and with the entry of Elo TouchSystems products, customers will now have a range of products to choose from," he added. |
| According to a statement from Tyco Electronics, touchscreens are easy to use, compact, convenient, durable, are low on maintenance and provide fast access to all types of digital media. Touch is ideal for use in countless applications where speed and simplicity are required, including many transaction-oriented applications. |
| Common touchscreen applications include point-of-information (POI) kiosks, lottery and amusement applications, multimedia marketing, banking/financial transactions, ticket sales, interactive pay phones, industrial machine control and process control, POS terminals, handheld computers, medical equipment, office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.) and in-vehicle-flight applications. |
