Wockhardt strengthens cardiac surgeons' team

In a move to strengthen its position in cardiac care, Wockhardt Hospitals has beefed up its team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons.
 
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Vishal Bali, chief executive officer, Wockhardt Hospitals Group said that as part of this exercise a full-time cardiac team of 20 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons have been inducted and they will operate at the two Wockhardt Hospitals in Bangalore.
 
"This new heart care programme being initiated with full-time cardiac team in Bangalore and in the existing six heart hospitals of the Wockhardt Hospitals in the country will give the group a leadership position across the country as a provider of advanced heart treatment," he added.
 
Wockhardt Hospitals announced that some renowned cradiologists have joined the hospital. Among those who have joined Wockhardt are Dr Subash Chandra, Dr Padmakumar, Dr Jayranganath, a team of cardiologists along with Dr Ganesh Iyer and Dr Devanand.
 
Bali said, "Clinical expertise is the foundation of our ability to deliver better patient care. This clinical synergy of great talent will create new abilities within our group to provide the most comprehensive cardiac care."
 
The team at the hospital in adult cardiac surgery will be led by Dr Vivek Jawali. Wockardt, with this new team, will commence a national referral centre for paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery at Bangalore.
 
"The world of cardiac surgery is evolving at a fast pace and for better patient care our expanded surgical team will provide focus on each sub-speciality within cardiac surgery and continue to be a centre for future medical advancements" said Dr Vivek Jawali who has just returned from Europe after conducting a teaching session on 'Conscious Off Pump Cardiac Surgery.
 
Wockhardt Hospitals with its two hospitals on Cunningham Road and Bannerghatta Road is also building a formidable presence in the city by creating a network of intensive coronary care units at strategic locations within the city.
 
The two heart hospitals and clinical teams at Bangalore will support over 4,000 heart surgeries and 10,000 coronary angiography and angioplasties a year.
