Heavy rains and snowfall since Sunday morning have affected normal life in Uttarakhand, besides disrupting power and water supplies in the state.

As a precautionary measure, schools have been closed in most regions, with the authorities issuing an alert. Chief Secretary N Ravishankar has already asked all district magistrates to keep vigil. The state meteorological department has predicted rains for one-two more days.
