10 co-ops in Nagpur to be wound up

The deputy registrar of Co-operative Societies, Nagpur, has cancelled the registration of 10 city-based co-operative societies.

These societies are to be wound up and liquidators have been appointed for the purpose.

The societies include Durga Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 196), Maa Bhagwati Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 442), Jai Bhavani Gruhnirman Sanstha (Reg No. 362), Nilgagan Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 995), Shree Maa Ambe Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 378), Sadar Nagari Sahakari Pat Sanstha (Reg No. 480), Autorickshaw Service Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 1695), Five Star Co-operative Housing Society (Reg No. 1206), Umiya Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg No. 461) and Shree Saiprakash Gruhnirman Sahakari Sanstha (Reg. No. 878).

Pravin Wankhede, deputy registrar of Co-operative Societies, Nagpur (City-1), said the liquidators were unable to locate the addresses of the offices mentioned by the societies in their registration documents.

"We are having to make a public appeal to know the whereabouts of the people associated with these societies. If anybody has any pending claims towards these societies, they can visit the office of the registrar of Co-operative Societies or contact the liquidator concerned," he said.

All these societies were started 10 years ago, Wankhede disclosed, adding that the winding up process was a routine exercise as the department had to review defunct societies before the end of the financial year.
