24 killed as truck overturns in Sanand

As many as 24 persons including 12 children and six women were killed on Thursday when a truck in which they were travelling overturned near Gujarat auto-hub Sanand about 30 km from here.

More than 15 persons were injured in the incident and have been shifted to the V S General Hospital in Ahmedabad.

According to police, the accident took place when a truck loaded with salt and labourers, overturned near Charodi village of Sanand block during wee hours of Thursday. The truck carrying salt was going from Bhuj in Kutch to Ahmedabad.

"A total of 24 persons have been killed in the incident. This includes six adult men, six adult women, two girls and 10 boys. More than 15 persons, including some who are in critical have been shifted to V S Hospital in Ahmedabad," police said. The highway on which the accident took place is one of the busiest stretch, which connects Ahmedabad with two of the biggest ports in the country Kandla and Mundra Ports in Kutch district.
