3G policy by March: Maran

The government is likely to announce the 3G (third generation) spectrum policy by March. "The policy will be ready by March 2007," Minister for IT and Communications Dayanidhi Maran said today.

To a query on when the semiconductor policy would be finalised, Maran said the cabinet has given an 'in-principle' approval to the policy but the final recommendations would be announced after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's nod.

"We have already lost Intel due to the delay in announcing the fab policy," Maran said.
