Agri sector prone to different risk factors

BS Reporter Chennai/ Mangalore
Corporation Bank chairman and managing director B Sambamurthy observed, "The Indian agriculture sector is prone to different types of risks that can be categorised."

Speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) at its Regional Training College Sambamurthy said, a second Green Revolution was imperative to accelerate the growth rate of agriculture in the country.

Agriculture is one of the main components of the economy. But, it is hampered by innumerable risks.

One of the major challenges of the 11th Five Year Plan would be to reverse the deceleration in agriculture growth from the present 3.2 per cent to a trend average of around 2 per cent, he said.
