Basu responding to treatment: Yechury

Ailing Jyoti Basu is responding to treatment and there is a positive change in his health condition, CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury said today.

"Basu's condition, however, remains critical despite his response to the latest anti-biotics. But he is always a fighter and is still fighting. There is a positive change in his health condition. His condition is much better than what it was yesterday," Yechury told reporter after visiting Basu, who is on a ventilator at a private hospital here.

He said the medical board was busy in a meeting to assess Basu's health condition and how to proceed further.
