The government may give a provisional security clearance to Bharti Telesonic for starting international long-distance services, even as the Cabinet Secretariat has asked for amending the ILD licences to incorporate more security features.
Clearance from security agencies has been a major bottleneck for Bharti which had announced the launch of its network in April. After an inspection of Bharti Telesonics international gateway station in Chennai on 25 May, security agencies said the monitoring and voice logging system did not meet the security requirements.The agencies asked Bharti to give a technical presentation of the proposed monitoring systems.
