CAIT for central VAT monitoring

The Confederation of All-India Traders (cait) today suggested setting up of a centralised vat monitoring cell and demanded a website for empowered committee of state finance ministers.

"A centralised vat monitoring cell and website of empowered committee should be formed wherein state vat acts, notifications, rate of taxes and important circular and notifications of empowered committee should be placed," cait general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said in statement here.

Cait chairman Vijay Goel said there was confusion due to the implementation of vat in some states. "No one knows what product is taxed at what rate. What will happen in inter-state or intra-state sales since invoice formats are yet to be printed for want of adequate knowledge," he asked.
