Common registration for contractors in Chhattisgarh

The building contractors need not have to register with different departments separately

BS Reporter Raipur
Contractors working in Chhattisgarh will not have to register with different departments of the state government, as a common registration will enable them to be eligible for all departments.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, on Monday, launched unified registration system in Chhattisgarh that would help contractors to register the firm only once and escape from the hurdles of registering the firm with different state government department.

Till now, the contractors in Chhattisgarh had to get the firm registered with the department that would be providing him contract. Suppose a contractor was registered with a company, he could not file the tender floated by another company.

"The system (integrated registration) would rectify it and the contractor registered with a particular department would be able to participate in the tendering process of another department," Singh said after launching the system on Monday afternoon in the state capital of Kerala.

It would be a kind of single-window system as the contractor would be registered with one firm and would be eligible to seek tender for different department. The senior officials informed that each state government department had separate norms for the contractor that was hampering their business.

With the launch of the integrated registration system, the contractor would be following a single norm - no matter for which department he or she would be working for.

"The new system would bring transparency," Singh said, adding that this would also facilitate common man to escape from many problems. The state government had made the public works department as the nodal agency to ensure smooth working of the integrated registration system.
