Elected member of APNIC

Kusumba S, an executive council member and treasurer of the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI), has been elected as a member of the executive council of Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), Brisbane, Australia.
 
APNIC is one of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIR) in the world. It is responsible for distributing and registering Internet address resources throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
 
This is the first time that any South Asian got elected for this post. The term of office is two years, ISPAI stated in a press release.
 
"I would like to address the issue of regulating a substantial amount of Internet traffic in the region for effective utilisation of backbones with established routing practices. It is also my priority to bring down the membership fee of APNIC for the ISPs in the region while adopting technologies for better service delivery," Kusumba said following his election as an APNIC executive council member.
 
Kusumba is president and managing director of Vebtel Obconic Internet Protocol Private Limited, a Hyderabad -based ISP and Internet telephony service provider.
