FKCCI welcomes KERC tariff order

The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has welcomed the Karnataka Energy Regulatory Commission (KERC) directive to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTC) to retain the existing power transmission tariff.
"The directive ensures that there is no additional burden on the consumers on account of transmission charges. The FKCCI welcomes the directive issued by the KERC to the KPTCL after holding a public hearing," FKCCI president S Babu said in a press statement.
The KPTC had submitted an application to the KERC seeking revision of the power transmission tariff from the existing 19.42 paise per unit to 26.06 paise per unit. Had the KERC given its nod, the electricity supply companies would have been forced to pass on the burden of the transmission tariff hike to the consumers.
The FKCCI has also welcomed the KERC's decision to permit 4.06 per cent transmission loss as against 4.18 per cent proposed by the KPTCL.
