GSDP, industrial production rise in MP

State has reached a double digit growth this year despite a continuous slide in primary sector. The tertiary sector’s contribution to the gross state domestic product (GSDP) and growth in tax collection are the prime reasons. The industrial production of the state is also likely to grow by 6.7 per cent during 2009-10 as the industrial production as gone up by 66.7 per cent, the state economic survey 2010-11 tabled yesterday in the state assembly revealed. The survey has also said Central government’s liberal industrial policy has attracted Rs 483,992 crore investment during 2007-2010.

Madhya Pradesh has registered a growth of 8.49 per cent during 2009-10 on constant price against 7.82 per cent registered during 2008-09, the survey said. The per capita income of the state has gone up to Rs 19,736 during the year 2010-11 against Rs 18,540 during the year 2008-09, thereby a growth of 6.45 per cent. The per capita income on current price grew by 14.7 per cent and stood at Rs 27,250 during 2009-10 against Rs 23,757 in 2008-09. The gross domestic product of the state also grew by 16.3 per cent on current prices during 2009-10 and 8.49 per cent on constant prices from that of the year 2008-09. Wholesale prices index and consumer price index of all agri-commodities risen by 6.4 per cent and foodgrain indices by 18.8 per cent during 2008-2010.
