Hyd to host national meet on 'Right to Information'

Our Regional Bureau Chennai/ Hyderabad
Hyderabad will play host to a national conference on 'Right to Information (RTI)' on May 8. Jointly organised by the Centre for Media Services (CMS) and Administrative Staff College of India, the conference will see the participation of chief information commissioners from eight states " Maharashtra, Karnataka, Orissa, Punjab, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh " besides central information commissioners.

According to a CMS press release, this is the first time that such a large number of recently-appointed commissioners under the new RTI Act will be interacting with a cross section of civil society activists including those from the print and electronic media on a single platform.

The objective of the meet is to see that right to information becomes a mass movement rather than remain as yet another good intentioned legislation.
