Ice cream market survey released

| The retail store audit on ice creams in kolkata, conducted by A C Neilsen ORG MARG Ltd, said during April 2003 - March 2004, Metro Dairy's ice cream had a 44 per cent market share of the total volume of ice cream retailed in Greater Kolkata. |
| The shares of other players in the market during the same period were 23 per cent for Kwality-Walls, 12 per cent for Rollick, 7 per cent for Amul and 4 per cent for Big Ones. |
| According to A C Neilsen's Retail Store Audit, 44.1 lakh litres of ice cream, valued at Rs 40 crore, were retailed in the metropolis during the year. |
| According to the study, the market for ice cream grew by 13 per cent during the year, from 38.9 lakh litres of ice cream retailed in 2002-2003. |
| Metro Dairy, was set up under the Operation Flood programme, totally funded by the World Bank. |
