J&K chief secy hints relief for employees

Kundal, however, said that the government would weigh all factors, including financial constraints, before giving a final shape to such considerations.
Apparently referring to the two-day strike called by various employee unions on May 5 and 6, the chief secretary said employees should use democratic means and dialogue to settle issues instead of resorting to "violence and street fights".
Several employees were detained and scores injured when police stopped them while they were trying to overrun the state secretariat on May 5 to press their various demands. Kundal asked the unions to follow footprints of those who make their viewpoint felt in an amicable manner.

"The government always focuses on mitigating the problems of the employees for their welfare," he said addressing a farewell function organised by the Civil Secretariat Non-gazetted Employees' Union to bid adieu to outgoing director (estates) B A Roniyal.
During the function, Commissioner-secretary general of the administrative department, Basharat Ahmed Dar, highlighted the meritorious services rendered by Roniyal, particularly while dealing with the post-earthquake relief in 2005 for the affected people.
He said it was for this service that Roniyal was recently honoured with the Prime Minister's award.
