K'taka civic bodies polls on Sept 28

Elections to 208 urban local bodies, including seven city corporations, in Karnataka, will be held on September 28. The counting will take place on September 30.
According to state election commissioner MR Hegde, seven city corporations "" Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad, Davanagere, Gulbarga, Belgaum, Bellary and Mangalore "" will go to the polls along with 44 city municipalities, 93 town municipalities and 64 town panchayats. Polls will be held to 4,998 wards. Over 9.03 million voters will caste their ballot.
The elections were deferred twice as the state government had not completed the process of reserving the wards. The election date was pending before the Supreme Court. Recently, it directed the state election commission to complete the process by September 30.
However, elections to the Greater Bangalore City Corporation (GBCC), have not been notified as the issue is pending before the court on account of delimitation of constituencies in the city.
The GBCC was formed by merging the erstwhile Bangalore City Corporation into seven municipalities surrounding the city to create 150 wards.
