K'taka launches revamped website

BS Reporter Chennai/ Bangalore
The Karnataka's Department of Tourism today launched its revamped website -- www.karnatakatourism.org. The website provides wide-ranging information on tourism in the state.

The information is segregated under the themes of heritage, wildlife, nature, adventure, beaches and the like. Accommodation available at different tourist destinations have also been listed with their tariffs on the website.

The website was launched by Karnataka minister for tourism B Sreeramulu. Speaking after the launch, he said the department seeks to invite visitors to the state to pen down their experiences while travelling across the state and also upload the best pictures.

The best entries will be selected as winners every month and prizes like two-three-day holiday packages at some of the resorts in the state will be given.

A special photo competition will be organised for the best photographs and the winners will be announced on World Tourism Day, he said.

The website has been developed to match W3C (world wide web consortium) standards that enables even a non-IT savvy person to browse through the site.

Tourism commissioner G Kumar Naik said the department was also planning to launch an e-newsletter for Karnataka Tourism branded as 'Karnataka's SURGE in tourism', which will be sent on a monthly basis to the tourism trade, media and the like.
