KMC seeks ADB loan

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has approached Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a Rs 2,500 crore loan to fund the Kolkata Environmental Improvement Project (KEIP) project.

The loan is likely to be used for improving  water-supply, drainage and building low-cost houses in the "added areas" of KMC. Few years ago, KMC had included south-west fringes of the city under its jurisdiction.
