MP eases land rules for Sasan Power

| The MP government has today decided to allow Sasan Power Limited (SPL) to mortgage, sale, donate lease or transfer any acquired private land area, residential building or its part or any construction on the land against any loan or finance obtained for the 4000 MW ultra mega power project in Sidhi district. |
| The SPL is engaged in developing the power project in the state. |
| The state government has to acquire a total of 946.58 hectares of land in Toyara, Sidhi Kala, Hararhawa, Sidhi Khurd, Jhanjhi Tola villages. The state cabinet today reportedly agreed upon certain conditions put by the SPL. |
| "The Section 6 of the land acquisition Act 1894 bars the state government to acquire private land for the company. The company has requested the state government eased its stand to faster the process," a document submitted before the cabinet said. |
| The state Cabinet today headed by Chief Minister Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan agreed upon 1500 MW of power drawl instead of 2000 MW from the project committed earlier. The rehabilitation of the project will also be in accordance with the 2002 policy. |
| Further a Trust (with representatives from state government and the company) will be constituted to monitor the facilities like education etc for displaced families. |
| The Trust will be constituted after a discussion between Sasan Power Ltd and district Collector Sidhi. |
| "The state government will obtain only 1500 MW from the project the rest of the power will be supplied from other ultra mega power projects. |
| Orissa has already committed 400 MW of power to the state government from its ultra mega power project," a government spokesperson said. |
| The company is also not agreed upon the condition to offer job to one of the members of the displaced family from the project. |
