NIT-R signs MoU with Atomic Energy department

National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT-R) has signed a MoU with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, to establish a graduate fellowship scheme in various engineering disciplines.
NIT-R Director Sunil Kumar Sarangi and S G Markendeya, scientific secretary of Board of Research in Nuclear Science department of Atomic energy signed the documents at NIT campus here yesterday.
With the signing of the MoU, the students will be admitted in the M Tech programme and some best students will be given a job in the Atomic Energy department directly while continuing his education, Sarangi said.
The selected students will get Rs 20,000 as allowance instead of Rs 8000, Sarangi said.
NIT-R is the first in the state and seventh institute in the country to sign such a MoU with the DAE.

Earlier, six IITs had signed similar MoUs to boost research activities.
Sarangi said a six-member team of senior scientists led by L M Gantayat and H S Kuswala of the Atominic Energy department had reached here to formulate programme for the research in the field of Atomic Energy.
