PFRDA to meet PoPs on Aug 26

Unhappy with the way the New Pension System (NPS) activities have been carried out so far by the contact and collection centres, the interim pension regulator Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) will meet them on August 26.
"Based on public response and some media reports, we are getting the impression that PoPs are not working in a smooth manner. We would meet them on August 26 and ask them to get their act right," a senior PFRDA official told PTI.
PoPs are contact and collection points for customers wanting to be part of NPS, a pension scheme thrown open to all citizens from May one this year.
Besides, the postal department is likely be roped in as another points of presence of the new pension system in the next one or two months.
PFRDA would like to have P&T (Post and Telegraph) department as its PoP for the NPS due to their enormous reach. However, the only difficulty is that these centre should have IT facility, the official added.
"P&T is working on its IT facility and there are chances that in a month or so, they may become PoP for the NPS," the official added.
