Pump manufacturing unit to come up in Coimbatore

Flowserve Corporation, a leader in providing fluid motion and control products and services for a diverse range of industries, will invest about $8.5 million in setting up a pump manufacturing facility at Coimbatore.
Announcing the development, Flowserve president and chief executive officer, Lewis Kling said the 1 lakh-square foot plant coming up on 14 acres of land would support the company's Indian operations and provide pump products for the oil and gas, power and chemical industries domestically, as well as in export markets.
The facility will have over 200 management and engineering personnel, who besides running production and quality operations, will provide total pumping solution services and support across the Coimbatore region.
Flowserve views Coimbatore as ideally positioned to further expand its customer base through a technically advanced manufacturing centre, Flowserve India president S Gopinath said.
Once into operation, the new facility is expected to nearly double Flowserve's production capabilities for single-stage, multi-stage, barrel and vertical engineered industrial pumps, he added. The plant will be inaugurated on April 12.
