Special status for NIT

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur has been chosen as a finishing school by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) to train the students from the 1,600 government and private engineering colleges of the country, to get lucrative jobs.
 
The duration of the course will be eight weeks and 100 students will be provided training at a cost of Rs 5,000 as fees.
 
Swapan Bhattacharya, director NIT, and a member of the Expert Committee of Finishing School, said, "Such training programmes will supply really talented students to the IT and BPO sectors. The first training programmes will start from May 2007."
