Canara Bank launches call centre

Public sector Canara Bank launched a call centre in Bangalore to enable its customers access information pertaining to their accounts and carry out other transactions.
 
This is the second hi-tech initiative being taken by the bank in the recent weeks "" the first one being the introduction of online trading "" after it undertook a massive rebranding exercise early this year. The bank changed its logo with a new tagline to attract more youth.
 
Speaking to reporters here, Canara Bank chairman and managing director M B N Rao said: "The call centre will be manned by 30 employees, and the number will be scaled up to 100 in future," Customers can use the toll-free number (1800-425-0018) between 7 am and 9 pm to get information about deposit schemes, loan schemes, credit card, rates of interest, service charges and balance in accounts.
 
Customers of the core banking branches can place requests for statement of accounts, interest certificates and TDS certificates.
 
This apart, the bank also launched other services such as ATM cheque deposit facility, a zero balance account for government and corporate employees, Internet purchases service using debit card, multi-city cheque facility, online application for home loan and Global Visa and Master debit card.
 
The bank has also introduced gift cards in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 1,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000.
