Catholic Syrian Bank to deploy Sun Micro's CBS

| Sun Microsystems India will implement a comprehensive core banking solution (CBS) for Thrissur-based Catholic Syrian Bank to help it centralise its operations. |
| The bank is implementing its CBS solution christened 'Maarvel', developed jointly with Chennai-based banking solutions vendor Laser Soft. |
| R Venkataraman, chairman, Catholic Syrian Bank, said the deployment was expected to help the bank centralise availability of information and increase speed and flexibility of service as well as transparency to the user database. |
| All 360 branches of the bank are expected to be covered over the next six months, bank officials said. |
| In addition to providing technology hardware, Sun has supported the bank's core banking initiative in eliminating IT malfunctions and downtime. |
| The bank employs around 2,800 and has business of over Rs 8,000 crore, with 30 per cent deposits coming from NRI customers. |
