HDFC Q3 net soars 83% to Rs 649 cr

 Interest income in the period increased by 45.94 per cent to Rs 1981.51 crore compared with Rs 1357.67 crore. Total income, including interest income, other operating income, fees and other charges, was Rs 2154.72 crore compared with Rs 1457.73 crore.  Other income, which is primarily from fee-based business, stood at Rs 4.37 crore for the quarter as against Rs 3.93 crore. Total expenditure shot up to Rs 1394.48 crore as against Rs 1012.91 crore in the same period last year. Major part of the expenditure consisted of interest and other charges, which stood higher at Rs 1315.96 crore (Rs 946.79 crore).  For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2007, HDFC reported a net profit of Rs 1570.38 crore as against Rs 1,020.33 crore y-o-y
