BUSINESS STANDARD

ICICI Bank has ventured into a new way of banking -- videoconferencing kiosk -- at Manipal today. The facility will help customers to see the teller and chat with while making the transaction.

Chandra Kochar, executive director of the bank told Business Standard: "This new concept of banking is called Videoteller. We have launched it as a pilot project. We hope to extend the service to some other centres -- first cities and then urban areas -- after reviewing the success of the project after a month."

"With this facility, the customer will be just a click away from the banker's customer service executive which would facilitate personalised service delivery through remote channels," Kochar said.

The bank, today also launched smart card at Manipal -- second after launching the service at the Infosys Campus in Bangalore. The card has been developed for the 12,000 students in 13 institutions of Manipal Academy of Higher education. The bank is looking to introduce the facility at some more city-based institutions.

Kochar also said the bank has introduced ATM screen in Kannada language today. It had launched its Marathi language screen earlier. According to Kochar, ICICI Bank is planning to introduce screens in other eight languages as well.
