Our Regional Bureau Pune
Iffco-Tokio General Insurance company (ITGI) has announced its dis-association with Krishak Bharathi Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO) for the sale of Sankat Haran Policy. This will be in effect from January 1, 2006.

Henceforth, IFFCO-TOKIO will not have any liability on KRIBHCO's fertiliser bags. However, ITGI's Sankat Haran Policy will be available with Indian Farmer's Fertiliser Co-operative (Iffco) and Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) products, said officials.

ITGI's Sankat Haran Policy is a personal accident insurance for the farmers.

It was launched by ITGI in October 2001. The policy covers physical injury or death due to any accident caused by external, violent and visible means.

According to the policy, a farmer will receive Rs 4,000 insurance cover with purchase of 25 kg fertiliser bag of Iffco and Indian Potash. The premium for the cover is paid by the fertiliser company.
