Re slips to 43.62/$, gilts decline

The spot rupee  opened at 43.61 per dollar, and dipped to 43.66 per dollar on buying by PSU banks. It finally closed at 43.62 per dollar as against the last close of 43.59 per dollar.

Heavy buying by SBI saw prices of government securities edge up from lows hit in morning deals today.

The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond yield inched up to 6.62% as against the last close of 6.61%.

While call rates were steady at 4.75%, reverse repo bids totalled Rs 37,000 crore.
