SLBC to support flood relief operations

The State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) of Andhra Pradesh has decided to supplement the relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken by the state government in the ten flood-affected districts with appropriate loan assistance to farmers and other affected sections.
 
The SLBC headed by Andhra Bank chairman & managing director K Ramakrishnan, which met here today to take stock of the situation, also decided to constitute a committee with representatives from Andhra Bank, RBI and the state government to visit the affected areas and to extend the required guidance to the field level functionaries.
 
Ramakrishnan also requested the lead banks to convene district level meetings in flood-affected districts to sensitise the branch managers regarding the relief measures, according to a press release.
 
The relief measures identified by SLBC at today's meeting include extending finance for rejuvenation of crops, fresh loans for raising/ replacing crops, converting of existing crop loans and also previously restructured loans into medium term loans and additional finance to self-help groups.
