78.59 crore Aadhaars generated in the country

The Aadhaar generation crossed 70 crore mark in October 2014 and a total of 78.59 crore Aadhaars have been generated in the country as on 9 March 2015. This information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Planning, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today

The Minister said that Aadhaar enrolment is an on-going activity, and is voluntary in nature. The enrolment for Aadhaar is in progress in the entire country including north-eastern States.
