AIIM launches 1 yr PGP in infra mgmt

Taking a cue from the likes of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and Indian School of Business (ISB), Ahmedabad-based Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management (AIIM) will begin its academic activities by launching a one year post graduate programme in infrastructure management (PGPIM) for executives.
The institute, which comes under the Adani Education and Research Foundation, has commenced the admission process for the programme. According to Bakul Dholakia, vice chairman and director of AIIM, young executives with a minimum work experience of five years and of atleast 25 years age are eligible for PGPIM. The admission to the programme will be on the basis of GMAT or CAT scroes as well as applicant's profile and personal interviews.
"The basic constraint facing the infrastructure industry currently is lack of skilled manpower. Through this course, we intend to fill that gap by providing quality education and research in the field of infrastructure," said Dholakia.
To commence from September 4, 2009, PGPIM will later follow specialised courses in infrastructure related sectors like transport, energy and real estate & Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
"We will eventually offer specialisation in transport, energy and real estate & SEZ. We are also going to offer short duration programmes lateron for working professionals. The courses will be in areas like port management, airport management, power plant management, railway management and roadway management," said Dholakia.
While initially the programme will feature a seating capacity of 40, Dholakia added that the institute will eventually ramp it up to 150 in next three years. The fees for the course has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh per annum, apart from other academic costs like overseas study tours.
