Management bodies of India, Pak in pact

Our Corporate Bureau New Delhi
The All India Management Association (AIMA), the governing body for management professionals in the country, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Management Association of Pakistan (MAP).

"The signing of the MoU signifies the commitment of the two associations to work together in realising their objectives to enhance the competence of professional management against the backdrop of improving economic and trade relations between the two countries," D N Khurana, director-general, AIMA, said.

The MoU was signed by Khurana and MAP Executive Director Farooq Hassan. According to the MoU, both AIMA and MAP have agreed to exchange management experts and speakers for regular interaction among management experts of both countries.

The increasing number of business schools and students in India have attracted the keen attention of MAP. To share the experiences of both countries and the vast body of research material created every year, the MoU provides for exchange of publications and delegations at their conventions and conferences.

Hassan said both the organisations would facilitate reciprocal membership of AIMA and MAP, which can lead to sharing of ideas and experiences in a more meaningful and constructive manner.

"It is a good beginning and the two organisations will endeavour to bring about a cohesive and proactive approach to strengthen the management movement in both countries and ensure that these developments should have a positive impact on the emerging South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) and South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) framework," Khurana said.
