How do you view the quota issue when it concerns private universities?

With quotas being implemented in all government-aided institutions, it's not necessary the same should be brought into play in private institutions. They have been given independence and hence the quota implementation should be made as their own call. But I think that since these private varsities have been given the freedom to function as per the standards set by them, they need to comply to certain rules set by the government. However, implementation of the quota system should not be made mandatory and they should be allowed to make a call for themselves which would give them a clearer picture and understanding as to what is best for them.

It looks as if quotas are mandalisation of educational institutions since the quotas are not based on assessment of effectiveness; they are incompatible with the freedom and diversity of institutions; and they politicise the education process. However, if introduced and implemented effectively, quotas can help in achieving the original cause of introducing them " upliftment of the socially and educationally-backward classes. The agreement between government and private universities is a good initiative considering the current scenario. The initiative taken by private varsities is a step forward in the right direction.
